A charity auction win that became a family portrait. The O'Learys arrived more prepared than I was — theme, colors, and name already chosen: The Penny, for Penny Chenery, who gave the world Secretariat. Built like a quilt: Derby pink and blue, a grey horse born where a proposal happened, and the three daughters' actual signatures on little tags. Ten percent of every Penny supports retired racehorses.
