About CB Grey

What is CB Grey?

CB Grey is a luxury silk accessories brand designing scarves, pillowcases, shawls, and bandanas rooted in story-driven design. Every piece is built around real women, meaningful narratives, and the kind of quality that lasts. Founded by Courtney Buchanan in Atlanta.

Where is CB Grey based?

Atlanta, Georgia. The brand was founded here and the studio still runs out of Atlanta.

Who designs CB Grey scarves?

Every scarf is designed by founder Courtney Buchanan. The design process starts with a story… a woman, a moment, an object that means something… and the print follows from there. No trend chasing. No filler patterns.

What makes CB Grey different from other silk brands?

Most silk accessory brands sell a print. We sell a story. Each design has a real narrative behind it… and the silk itself is meticulously sourced and produced. We're small, we're intentional, and we don't drop a piece unless it earns its place in the line.

Silk + Materials

What kind of silk does CB Grey use?

100% mulberry silk. We work primarily in 14mm silk twill and 16mm silk twill… the weights chosen for each style based on how it should drape, hold a print, and feel against skin. Mulberry silk is the highest grade of silk available.

What is mulberry silk?

Mulberry silk is silk produced by silkworms fed exclusively on mulberry leaves. It's the longest, strongest, and finest silk fiber available… which is why it has the smoothest hand-feel, the brightest color saturation, and the longest lifespan. It's the standard for luxury silk accessories.

What does "momme" or "mm" mean in silk?

Momme (mm) is the unit that measures silk weight. Higher momme means denser, more substantial fabric. 14mm twill has a beautiful drape and excellent print clarity… 16mm satin is heavier, more opulent, and ideal for pillowcases and statement pieces.

Are CB Grey scarves hand-rolled?

Yes. Our 90 cm scarves and 45 cm midis have a hand-rolled hem, which is the traditional finish for luxury silk scarves. It takes longer, it costs more, and it's the only finish worth doing on a piece you'll keep for decades.

Care + Styling

How do I wash a silk scarf?

Hand wash in cool water with a gentle, pH-neutral soap (baby shampoo works). Don't wring it. Lay flat on a clean towel, roll the towel to absorb water, then air dry away from direct sunlight. Iron on the silk setting if needed, while slightly damp.

Can I dry clean a silk scarf?

You can… but you usually don't need to. Hand washing is gentler on the fibers and the print. Save dry cleaning for when something actually stains. If you do dry clean, use a cleaner who specializes in silk.

How do I tie a silk scarf?

Depends on what you want it to do. A neck knot for everyday… a head wrap for sun and style… a bag tie for instant polish… a long drape over a coat for impact. We post styling videos on Instagram (@shopcbgrey).

Will a silk scarf wrinkle?

Silk creases, but it doesn't wrinkle the way cotton does. A few minutes hung up or a quick pass with a steamer brings it right back. Twills crease less than satins.

Orders, Shipping + Returns

How long does shipping take?

Orders typically ship within 3 business days and arrive in 3-5 business days depending on your shipping speed.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. International orders may be subject to customs duties and import taxes, which are the responsibility of the buyer. Delivery timelines depend on destination and customs processing.

What is your return policy?

Not happy with your product? That's cool… send it back (on us!), you won't hurt our feelings ;). Just please make sure you send it back in the original condition and with the original packaging within 30 days of receiving it.

You have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return. To be eligible, your item must be in the same condition you received it… unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You'll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.

Start your return at cbgrey.returnscenter.com. If your return is accepted, we'll send you a return shipping label, plus instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted. Questions? Email returns@shopcbgrey.com.

What if my order arrives damaged or wrong?

Inspect your order as soon as it arrives and contact us immediately at returns@shopcbgrey.com if anything is defective, damaged, or wrong. We'll evaluate the issue and make it right.

Can I exchange an item?

We don't do direct exchanges. The fastest way to get what you want is to return the original item, and once the return is accepted, place a separate order for the new piece.

Are any items non-returnable?

Sale items and gift cards are final sale… we can't accept returns on either.

How do refunds work?

Once we receive and inspect your return, we'll let you know if the refund was approved. If approved, you'll be automatically refunded to your original payment method. Note: it can take a little time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund.

Can I track my order?

Yes. You'll receive a tracking link by email as soon as your order ships. If you don't see it, check your spam folder or email hello@shopcbgrey.com.

Custom + Wholesale

Do you do custom scarf designs?

Yes. CB Grey takes on a limited number of custom design projects each year… for brands, weddings, gifts, and partnerships.  Email hello@shopcbgrey.com to start a conversation.

Can I order CB Grey for my store?
