Reinventing the silk scarf.
CB Grey is a luxury silk accessories brand founded in Atlanta in 2020 by designer and artist Courtney Buchanan. In five years, it has become the quietly recognized name behind some of the most meaningful custom silk work in the country — from the official commemorative scarf for America's 250th anniversary, to three consecutive years at Mar-a-Lago, to a custom collection designed on-site at Mauna Kea Resort in Hawaii.
Each piece begins as a hand-drawn illustration. Behind every design is a story. A real woman. A place. A moment worth preserving in silk.
That philosophy has built lasting relationships across an uncommon range of collaborators — Alys Beach, CB Grey's very first custom client just six months into the brand and still reordering five years later; Discovery Land Company's ultra-private clubs; the GRAMMY Gift Lounge; Children's Healthcare of Atlanta; Dress for Success; the Rex Krewe of Mardi Gras; and Vanderbilt University. Across 40+ retail partners and a growing roster of resort, institutional, and cultural commissions, CB Grey has built something rare — a brand with the soul of an artist and the portfolio of a seasoned luxury partner.

The Story Behind the Brand.
CB Grey started as a creative lifeline. It was April 2020. The world had shut down, Courtney had a six-month-old baby named Grey, and the video production work she loved had evaporated overnight. So she did what she's always done — she made something.
What started as digital painting on an iPad became an obsession with silk. With the idea that art and luxury could live in the same object. That a scarf could do more than accessorize — it could carry meaning, honor someone, tell a truth.
Courtney launched CB Grey on September 1, 2020 with no fashion industry background and no roadmap. Just a relentless eye, a belief in the power of story, and a stubborn refusal to make anything generic.
The Design Philosophy.
Every design is inspired by a real woman.
Not a celebrity. Not a mood board concept. A real person — with a real story, real strength, real complexity — whose life deserves to be honored in something beautiful.
I hand-draw every illustration, weaving the details of each woman's story into the colors, motifs, and hidden elements of the design. The women who inspire these pieces aren't famous. They're extraordinary in the ways that actually matter — the courage, the grit, the grace, the quiet power that most people never see.
When you wear a CB Grey scarf, you're wearing someone's story. That's not marketing language. That's just what it is.
The Custom Work.

Quality Worth Keeping
CB Grey uses only premium silk — sourced carefully, printed with precision, finished with the kind of detail that makes something feel like a luxury object the moment it's in your hands.
The packaging is designed to be kept and reused. The experience of opening a CB Grey box has been compared to Neiman Marcus and Saks — not because we're trying to compete with them, but because we believe the way something arrives matters as much as what's inside.

Courtney Buchanan | Owner & Designer
We believe fashion is more than what you wear — it's a chance to show the world who you are.We believe the women who inspire these designs deserve to be celebrated loudly.
We believe beautiful things should also mean something.
And we believe that no matter your age, size, background, or story — you deserve to feel like the main character.
So. Welcome to CB Grey. I'm really glad you're here!
Wanna see behind the scenes?
Here is a quick snippet of how a design begins. I go back and forth constantly between my iPad and illustrator. All the elements are hand drawn with an apple pencil and then I arrange and manipulate them in illustrator. I started this drawing with one theme in mind, but once I started playing with it in illustrator it took on an entirely different feel. It always amazes me how many times a design will change before it is finished!
